Each week I choose an ad I find of interest, sometimes it’s current and sometimes it’s an older one I enjoy. I usually write a couple of things that interested me about it but it’s not a scholarly critique – just a personal rant/fawn about ads with a couple blog links at the end.
Hidrofugal – Sweat when you have to
I think the idea behind the campaign is really good but this and other print ads I have seen of it are a bit ‘off’ to me. It’s not bad but for reasons I’m struggling to articulate when I first saw the image I was unimpressed, it wasn’t until I read the ‘sweat when you have to’ in the bottom left corner that my appreciation of the campaign came. The shots of people just standing there don’t really do it for me. I guess my issue is that what I love about print is it’s ability to speak for itself but I’m not sure if this one does. On the flipside, any TV, radio or web stuff they may have in the campaign may be great.
